Foucault and the 90s
It is a time when most are concerned with ignoring their debt to Marxist thought. There is always the truth to look for or someone in clothing that occupi3s a discursive place similar to the truth. And then there are always the unintended consequences of one’s involvement in larger systems of “power” that one can never completely look back on and grasp.
Just because you stop listening to the music doesn’t mean the words won’t be there for you if you ever come back to them. They are more faithful than many significant others who might make off with any culturally relevant property that you could purchase at Media Play or later on at Border’s Books and Music.
A lot of times there might be a special song that comes on the radio that you didn’t pick. That song is the special song and its relevance to you is enhanced by the fact that you had no direct influence over whether or not you would be hearing this song right now.
It is at those time that the music is the sweetest. And most music occurred, as Foucault might say, in the early and middle nineties. Now how you feel about musuck is in large part due to the work of Kurt Cobain and larger structures of corporate governance. Thus it can be said that you are an individual that seeks truth and that the seeking of truth is, in fact a pleasurable experience for you.
Other pleasurable experiences include moshpits, jamming, and public events where there is the chance of meeting someone new who shares a similar discursively determined position. These people, who exist most fully in potentiality, and who, who share this subjective position with you are called hot. A letdown.

Windsor for the Derby - We Fight Till Death
friend
I was Videodrome’s first victim
it’s great, tell it to me
you were like always there for me
if music can turn
video can not turn
On consideration, it feels good to feel bad
both are available
both are your friend
a device
much easier to listen to
and in the mental hospital for shame
you want to hear it
and then have feelings
without torture
Is that what a synonym is?
A place where a pal is or was downloaded illegally.
A fastener, technology
is what the arbitrariness of
my friend resists
Can you compare the degree of unhappiness of two pieces of music?
like children
I was its first victim.
For people unknown
I am one of them, the preposition, a verb tense
A vocabulary of excitement
can outlast even happiness
It would be good for you to
answer the phone or implant it in your brain
It would be good
for so many things
to spread this down my hometown
a place for a signal.
